Project
Description: Krech Ojard was hired to design and reconstruct a structurally
deficient bridge and approaches on County Trunk Highway "S" over
the historic Brule River.
Special
Issues and Needs: The
bridge is adjacent to canoe landing and recreational
area within Brule River State forest. The historic
nature of stream, sensitive fish and wildlife concerns
and involvement of public and private agencies added
to technical challenges for this crossing.
Services
provided:
•
Topographic survey and preliminary plan preparation.
• Performed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
• Coordinated public meetings and agency coordination.
• Prepared final structure and approach plan preparation.
• Produced specifications and estimates.
Project
Summary:
The project was completed in March of 2002. The new bridge improves safety and
comfort for the traveling public. The bridge's aesthetic design blends with the
natural setting and satisfies environmental concerns.
