Project
Description: The Grey Haven Marina,
owned by the City of Detroit, had been used for private boats
and the city wanted the facility rehabilitated for expanded
use. The marina features a shallow berthing area with riprap
perimeter. Krech Ojard & Associates, P.A. conducted a hydrographic
survey of the marina for rehab purposes.
Special
Issues and Needs: There
was only minimal area information available prior
to conducting the survey. The project required expedited
survey scheduling and tight final product turn-around
schedules.
Services
provided: • Reviewed sketches of the area.
• Coordinated with contractor, client and local engineer.
• Completed pre-dredge and post-dredge surveys.
• Performed an analysis of compacted material removed.
• Performed side-scan sonar sweep of the area to locate obstructions.
• Prepared a comprehensive contour map of the marina. Project Summary:
The project was completed on schedule and to budget in August of 2002.
