Description: North Shore Mining produces 4.5 million tons of taconite pellets per year and is owned and operated by Cleveland Cliffs Inc. Krech Ojard designed and managed the construction of a new turnout and 700 feet of track, to improve rail service to the ore-crushing facility.
Plans have been completed for a new spur line and conveyor system which will facilitate shipping filter cake product from NSM’s concentrator building. Additionally, Krech Ojard and North Shore Track Services raised and re-aligned approximately 1000 feet of gantry crane rail.
Krech Ojard’s Rail Group conducted a railroad operations study for production and shipment of concentrate and iron nuggets.
North Shore Mining has been a client of Krech Ojard since 1994.

Upgrading this taconite plant is right up Krech Ojard's alley and KO's Rail Group was instrumental in making these upgrades a reality. This facility is at the forefront of northern minnesota taconite production.
