Project
Description: Krech Ojard provided structural engineering services for the development of the $17 million dollar Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center.
The facility, built for the city of Duluth, consists of an exterior-exposed structural steel frame which limits the need for support columns in the large reception halls, with an interior concrete floor system. The entire complex is pile- supported as it rests on the shoreline of the Duluth/Superior harbor on Lake Superior.
The facility now operates as a premiere venue for a multitude of public and private functions, including being the home of the University of Minnesota Duluth Hockey Team. It represented one of the foremost civic developments in the Duluth area in recent decades.
A new expansion has recently been proposed for this recreational, civic facility over the next few years. Krech Ojard has been delighted to see the lifespan of this design serve so many over the years and is excited to see it now move into it's next phase of uplifting the comunity.
