BAY VIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RENOVATION COMPLETE: 2015

Krech Ojard is proud to have taken part in the elementary school renovation for the Proctor School District and Bay View Elementary. The three phase remodel and additions have completed. 2015 returning students and teachers will have a full campus again, this time with updated and expanded facilities.

This project consisted of a new 33,200sf addition, demolition of the original 1919 portion of the school, new school front and remodeled space from the 1919 portion, and secure entry way remodel with offices.

Eighteen new classrooms were included with a net gain of eight student classrooms over previous programming space, as well as new flex rooms, offices and facilities.

After completion of the new student wing phase in December of 2013, classrooms and students from the 1919 building portion were transferred to the new facility and demolition started on the existing front portion. Construction of the new and renovated front portion and secure entrance of Bay View Elementary then begin. With this final phase originally slated for occupancy in January 2015, inclement winter weather pushed scheduling on previous phases back. The school and contractors weathered a long winter during this phased construction process. However the many professionals involved worked vigorously to complete the project only months from original plans. This summer, minor finishing landscaping wraps up.

BAY VIEW ELEMENTARY UPDATE September 2014

A milestone has been reached on the Bay View Elementary School Renovation and Additions construction. Classes previously being taught in the original 1919 building have been transferred to the new wing where the majority of students will attend classes this year. Teachers have weighed in on the positives of the extra space, new lockers for each student, bathrooms on each floor, and new classroom amenities of the new three floor academic wing that overlooks the playground, fields, and tree lines of the sloped property. The long winter slowed the construction schedule this spring and the affect can be seen on landscaping that has yet to be finished. The rush was on in recent weeks in preparation for incoming students. Phase two elements such as the secured main entrance were completed before school began. The new entrance canopy and finishes progressed the week before school started. New office spaces are up and running just in time for the start of the school year.

As planned and now that the students have new classrooms, this opened the 1919 building on the front street side of the school up for demolition and replacement in the third and final phase. The 1919 building’s footprint will be replaced with new multipurpose facilities and flex spaces giving the school, faculty and students more flexibility in programming. Demolition of the 1919 portion is complete and footings for the new facilities of the third and final phase are in as construction continues.

As construction progresses we will be updating imagery on this page so check back again later this year.
