    Job Description

    Professional Electrical Engineer – Vancouver, British Columbia Office

    The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for supporting client relationships through delivery of electrical engineering services to mining/industrial/oil and gas/infrastructure/agri-business clients. This position requires application of independent engineering judgment and self-directed efforts to successfully complete projects as assigned, and foster on-going relationships with existing and new clients and Krech Ojard & Associates, Ltd. (“KOA”)’s internal/external project teams.

    Under the general direction of the Electrical Engineering Manager or his/her designate, the duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Prepare proposals, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for prospective engineering projects
    • Utilize experience and understanding of electrical engineering design principles to develop preliminary design plans, P&ID’s, and alternatives for evaluation and further design development
    • Develop issued for bid drawing packages as well detailed drawing packages from preliminary or concept design packages
    • Analyze data, prepare reports, and deliver presentations about proposed and ongoing projects to internal staff and clients
    • Manage projects that require design coordination with multiple disciplines; Civil, Mechanical, Structural
    • Provide mentoring and oversite to junior engineers and technicians
    • Complete QA/QC reviews throughout the design development process for assigned projects as well as projects under development by others
    • Work directly with clients to develop project options and alternatives
    • Meet with clients to provide engineering guidance for project planning and development, field investigations, and critical issues

    Desired Capabilities and Training

    • Knowledge and ability to implement complex electrical engineering principles and practices applied to project design and construction;
    • Extensive knowledge and practical application of the basic principles and practices of engineering;
    • Detailed knowledge of principles, methods, equipment, and materials used in construction of electrical and multidiscipline engineering projects;
    • Experience planning and directing engineering technicians and assigned staff.
    • Experience making difficult engineering computations, estimates, and designs.
    • Experience preparing and interpreting plans and specifications;
    • Ability to perform or supervise engineering inspections associated with project construction;
    • Experience taking precise field measurements, making, and interpreting the resulting calculations;
    • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with other employees, managers, and individuals from other organizations and clients;
    • Experience with varied types of electrical systems commonly found in the mining industrial manufacturing facilities;
    • Valid Driver’s License and vehicle;
    • Authorized to work in Canada;
    • Strong problem solving skills;
    • Accountable and dependable;
    • Able to work in a team environment as well as independently;
    • Proficient in using a computer, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
    • Exceptional attention to detail and quality of work;
    • Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills;
    • Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic; and
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.

    Qualifications:

    • Education:   Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related degree; and
    • Job Requirements:  Classification as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or the ability to readily attain registration as required; and
    • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience in electrical engineering design and construction or other related engineering work

    Working Conditions:

    • Work normal business hours but may be required to do some work in the evenings or outside normal working hours;
      Able to work on a computer for long periods of time;
    • Required to spend long hours concentrating, which will require attention to detail and high levels of accuracy;
    • Required to meet a number of deadlines which may cause stress; and
    • Able to travel internationally if required.

    Job type:

    Full time

    Salary:

    $65,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
