    Engineering Intern – Minneapolis

    Engineering Intern

    Under general direction of a Professional Engineer or other assigned responsible staff, Engineering Interns learn and perform a variety of engineering project tasks that require the use of industry standard software including AutoCAD, Revit, and Civil 3D. An intern can anticipate receiving guidance and training that will enable them to complete design and drafting tasks as well as calculations and analyses of proposed design options. In addition, many interns can expect to gain exposure to both office and field engineering work, involving design and construction projects for our clients.

    Essential Functions of the Job

    • Learning and application of design development capabilities to the project workflow by developing electronic documents in the form of drawings, technical detail documents, and summary reports
    • Collaboration with technicians and engineers to improve technical capabilities and understanding of the nuances of design software platforms utilized by most engineering firms
    • Perform design and engineering tasks associated with new projects and projects at various stages of execution
    • Work with senior staff, preparing detailed plans and specifications for engineering and design projects
    • Receive training and develop an understanding of the importance of safety awareness while on various types of jobsites
    • Work with staff members in developing an understanding of and the ability to apply the necessary level of detail for each stage of design development
    • Utilize specialty equipment required in the development of project deliverables (Laser scanners, GPS Survey equipment, and various nondestructive testing equipment frequently used by engineers and technicians)

    Qualifications, Knowledge & Abilities

    • Currently enrolled in a Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural engineering program with an accredited college or university
    • Currently enrolled as a sophomore or higher level with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Basic understanding of CAD or 3D CAD software
    • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with staff and team members
    • Willing to spend the summer in Minneapolis, Minnesota
