By collaborating with our structural and civil engineering professionals, our clients enjoy seamless, comprehensive services.

Our architectural staff are abreast of cutting edge environmental and technologic advances, including LEED certification design, and as a progressive, non-commodity focused firm, we are uniquely positioned to serve our clients in a manner that exceeds their expectations and makes the most of their resources.

Repeat client/school design and rehabilitation relationships is our goal. Ongoing working relationships with numerious local K-12 institutes of learning has given our architects the experience to satisfy an institution's requirements in a timely fashion and within budget restraints. With ever changing building and materials technology, our goal is to maintain original campus master plans while extending them by infusing the technology of today's buildings. These projects open new doors for the institution and students, and we enjoy being a part of that process.

K-12 SPACES & MATERIALS

Whether a client's project goal is LEED certification or not, our Architects approach each project with the same environmental awareness as if it was, while maintaining budget goals.

One major component of K-12 education facility design is the inclusion of environmentally safe materials that also have sustained lifecycles. Schools need to be durable enough to handle the many students it will serve over time, while also creating spaces and environments conducive to learning. These environment design requirements change for students of varying age groups and so too must the design of the spaces they learn in. Krech Ojard architects address each space with these important issues, and more, in mind.

Outdoor connections, outdoor meeting spaces, and outdoor sports and recreational spaces are also key to school campus success. Spaces between buildings, courtyards, sidewalks, parking lots, and more green spaces add to the success of a facility. Krech Ojard's project experiences with these spaces, and also with complete indoor/outdoor sport facilities will bring your school to new heights. Having civil engineers in house makes for close participation with architects for maintaining design while creating outdoor spaces and facilities which last. Long-term relationships with landscaping consultants breeds successful outdoor environments that work with a buildings design.

Corridors, connections, entrances and exits are pivotal aspects of a smooth faciltiy design. In schools the rate, directions, and amount of movement must be designed for the safety of students and for successful day to day use of the facility. Simplicity of design, wide concourses, lighting and clear wayfinding are substantial necessities for K-12 institutions.

Large meeting and performance spaces have many technical requirements for sucess. Whether it's a multi-use gym, a cafeteria, an auditorium, or a combination cafetorium, our architects and engineers are capable of making the most of your space.

SOUND

Sound is an important aspect of K-12 building design and renovations, and something Krech Ojard architect's takes seriously. This is a design performance issue many older schools can falter at. The same materials once chosen for long life also add to sound issues. These unwanted sound echos, grey noise, mechanical systems noise, can all lead to a space that is not conducive to learning. We design for this important issue with both materials better suited to a spaces sound quality and also using building technology techniques. We also work very closely with mechanical and electrical consultants and utilize their experience to achieve desired requirements.

LIGHTING

Lighting is another important aspect of facilities designed for learning. This is also a design performance issue many older schools can falter at. New advances in fixtures allow for each unique space to have lighting designed specifically for its use, at a cost our clients can afford, and with further cost saving lighting control technology. Lighter color, brightness, heat, and lighting created noise can all be controlled and designed. We work very closely with mechanical and electrical consultants and utilize their experience to achieve desired requirements and more.

Ambient lighting solutions have a dramatic positive effect on both student learning and electrical costs for a facility. Krech Ojard's experience with window options, clerestories, and direct or indirect sun ports, are also enhanced by working closely with our inhouse Structural Engineers that allow building options which might otherwise be too expensive to consider.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Many people work in and support K-12 education facilities. From custodial offices and storage to administration offices, break rooms, and more. Facilities for support personnel can be as integral to a successful education facility as classrooms. Krech Ojard works closely with facility management, teachers and administration to fully grasp the needs of these support personnel and for solutions to these needs to be echoed in the building design.
