CHARTER FILMS

Krech Ojard & Associates designed the Charter Films plastic sheet products manufacturing facility in Superior, Wisconsin. Charter Films is a manufacturer of plastic sheet products for a wide range of consumers, ranging from the medical to automotive industries. The manufacturing facility consists of a 27,400 square foot precast, two story foot print with a mezzanine level, and towers for the vertical extrusion process. Two extrusion lines were installed with the construction and line three installed in a later phase. The project is designed to support a fourth extrusion line in the future.

Features in the Charter Films design include: integrated structural support for the building and machine support, lifting ports with a bridge crane for install and maintenance, balance coding system to expedite and increase production volume.

The Charter Films recycling building was a second phase which was needed to manage the waste volume. Each film product is created with such unique properties that the start-up/completion by-product is too valuable and be reconstituted with virgin materials to be re-extruded.

Krech Ojard also designed uniquely angled loading bays allow direct access to the adjacent street by truck. The Charter Films facility utilizes every square foot of its expansive manufacturing spaces inside.
