Friends of Animals

Krech Ojard & Associates (KOA), Inc. was pleased to be the Architect and Engineer for the new Friends of Animals Humane Society (FOA) remodel in Cloquet, Minnesota. As with many not-for-profit organizations, FOA had a very challenging budget. Thinking outside the box, the KOA design team captured FOA’s “Dream Home”. Combining this with repurposing materials from previous contractor’s projects and the donation of new supplies turns FOA’s dream of a new “home” into a reality.

Below is a small taste of the repurposing efforts and supplies:

• Forty out of the fifty-four doors and frames were left in place or relocated, and given a fresh coat of paint.
• Structural steel was removed from previous projects. (Kolb Construction)
• Eighty new LED fixtures from previous jobs. (Hunt Electric)
• Repurposing eighty percent of the acoustical ceiling tiles.
• Painted grade trim was saved from a previous job. (The Boldt Company)
• The air handling systems are being reused and new ductwork being redistributed. (Carlson Duluth)
• Laminate cabinets are from incorrect order. (St. Germain’s Cabinet)

Krech Ojard and Associates, along with our contractors, were able to make a simple and indirect donation to the future of our planet.  (Architecture Services are no longer offered directly From Krech Ojard starting in 2022.)
