Lake County Building Fire Support – Structural Assessments
Krech Ojard provided two phases of engineering consulting related to damages arising from a fire incident in the Lake County Highway/Maintenance Building in Two Harbors, Minnesota. For Phase I, Lake County was seeking an independent professional engineering assessment of the insurers report and findings. To provide Lake County building fire support, Krech Ojard engineers reviewed initial third party reports with Lake County and proceeded with Phase II, an independent structural and forensic assessment of the facility and damages, and also later provided guidance on demolition strategies.
As part of this assessment, 3d scanning services were provided to verify member geometric changes as well as further document damage extents. 3d scanning was also critical in communicating to the insurer’s engineers that damages were attributable to the fire.
Scope of services provided included:
- Review of existing building drawings and two initial reports findings
- Forensic level site damage assessment
- 3d Laser scanning
- Preliminary roof analysis
- Provide written findings and recommendations report
- Review report summary with client
