PAPER PLANT ADDITION – PCC UNLOADING BUILDING

Krech Ojard & Associates was retained to provide civil and structural engineering as well as construction administration at this Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) unloading building . The scope of work involved a 4,000 square foot building to be constructed on the west side of an existing paper plant additives building. The PCC unloading building was constructed on what was once an access road for the facility. This road was rerouted around the building and modification to the surrounding drainage areas was performed.

Civil engineering services included relocation of three existing utilities, site grading, and asphalt pavement. Additionally all light poles, hydrants and post indicator valves within the PCC unloading building limits were removed and relocated. Structural engineering services involved as-built survey and drafting, construction staking and building design.

For this PCC unloading building project, Krech Ojard & Associates worked with the Owner and City of Duluth.  Krech Ojard provided project coordination, bid review, and contractor selection assistance. Under the scope of work, Krech Ojard also provided permitting services which encompassed the construction administration of the PCC unloading.

Other major contract items found within the scope of work included chain link fence, vertical pivot entrance gate, concrete aprons and stoops placement around the building and project turf establishment.
