TOROMOCHO RAIL STUDY

Krech Ojard & Associates was retained by a Peru copper company to complete the Toromocho Rail Study for their operations in South America. KOA evaluated the capability of an existing railroad constructed in the late 1800’s to handle the increased tonnage from a proposed copper mine.

This mine would greatly increase the tonnage that this line currently carries and is shipped through the port at Lima, Peru. The railroad extended from the Port of Lima and climbed 18,000 feet to go over the top of the Andes Mountains creating which was until recently the highest railroad in the world.

KOA also reviewed the shipping facilities at the Port in Lima to handle the increased tonnage of copper concentrate.
