    Structural Engineer-in-Training

As a Structural Engineer-in-Training at Krech Ojard & Associates, Ltd. you will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of structural systems and components for our diverse range of projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, leveraging your expertise to contribute to the design, analysis, and testing of innovative solutions.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Under the general direction of a Structural Engineering or his/her designate, the duties and responsibilities of the Structural Engineer-in-Training include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Perform structural design and complete analysis calculations using governing codes and industry standards, engineering formulas, and experience
    • Prepare plans, drawings, quantities, specifications and/or other documents for engineering projects using computer-aided design (CAD) software or other software systems
    • Collaborate with Engineers to complete design projects of with various levels of complexity
    • Actively participate in project, client, and team meetings
    • Utilize existing CAD standards in the development of design documents
    • Perform field measurements for validation of existing or as-built conditions
    • Recommend upgrades and revisions to internal procedures and practices
    • Other duties as assigned

    Desired Capabilities and Abilities

    • Implement engineering principles and practices to project design
    • Strong all-around academic knowledge of structural engineering
    • Experience with engineering design software is an advantage (MathCad, Navisworks, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Robot, etc.)
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
    • General knowledge of equipment and materials used in the construction phase of projects
    • Perform mathematical calculations relative to design of systems and structures
    • Familiarity with BC and Canadian standards and building codes
    • Effectively communicate and interact with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and clients. Desire to work and integrate into a team.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and quality of work
    • Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks
    • Valid Driver’s License and vehicle
    • Authorized to work in Canada

    Qualifications and Education

    • Education: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited Canadian university or equivalent
    • Experience: 0-2 years of engineering experience, within the industrial, mining, oil&gas or construction sectors
    • EIT licensure or immediate eligibility within Canada

     

    Working Conditions

    • Work normal business hours but may be required to do some work in the evenings or outside normal working

    • $70,000.00-$96,000.00 per year
