    Structural Engineer – Eau Claire, Wisconsin

    Krech Ojard & Associates, Inc is seeking an individual who has attained a Professional Engineering License in Wisconsin or can complete licensure within 6 months. We are looking for a PE that can foster client relationships through delivery of structural services to industry clients. This position requires application of independent engineering judgment and self-direction to successfully complete projects as assigned. A preferred applicant will obtain Three to ten years post-graduate experience in an engineering environment. Undergraduate experience in construction or engineering-related activity preferred. This position is for the Eau Claire, Wisconsin location.

    Duties and Responsibilities
      Under the general direction of the Structural Engineering Manager or his/her designate, the duties and responsibilities of the Structural Engineer include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Promote a safety focused environment;
    • Manage budget and deadlines to client satisfaction;
    • Work within multi-disciplinary teams with varying roles ranging from project lead to detailed design and support.
    • Direct team members in the preparation of plans and other construction documents;
    • Develop schematic concepts for client scoping approval quickly, estimate engineering efforts, and communicate the strategy to all relevant parties;
    • Perform site observations and inspection of construction projects; and
    • Prepare reports and oral presentations for both internal and client use.
    • Other duties as assigned.

      • Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic;
      • Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks;
      • Valid Driver’s License and vehicle;
      • Knowledge of fundamental structural engineering principles and practices;
      • Ability to work interactively with client and project teams to develop solutions and contract documents;
      • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with structural systems, components, analysis and codes in Canada and the United States;
      • Ability to practically apply technical understanding to project design and construction through positive/pro-active communication;
      • Ability to work in multiple roles in highly dynamic team environment;
      • Ability to plan and direct the work of Engineers In Training (EIT), engineering technicians, and other staff;
      • Ability to make engineering calculations, estimates, and designs;
      • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications;
      • Ability to generate reports of on-site inspections and observations;
      • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate and interact with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and clients;
      • Five (5) years experience with AutoCAD/Revit and Microsoft Office; and

    Working Conditions

    • Work normal business hours but may be required to do some work in the evenings or outside normal working hours;
    • Able to work on a computer for long periods of time;
    • Required to spend long hours concentrating, which will require attention to detail and high levels of accuracy;
    • Required to meet a number of deadlines which may cause stress; and
    • Able to travel domestically and internationally if required.
    Qualifications/Education
    • Education: Minimum of five (5) years of post-graduate experience in an engineering environment supporting mining/industrial/oil and gas/infrastructure/agri-business/architecture industries; and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent related degree.
    • Experience: Previous experience in an engineering environment with undergraduate experience in construction or engineering-related activity preferred.
