    Job Description

    Structural Engineer (EIT)

    Perform structural analysis of components and systems for buildings and other structures under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers. The job requires practical knowledge of structural analysis, behavior, and construction practices.

    The position will expose the applicant to a wide variety of structural engineering opportunities including, industrial, commercial, educational, and institutional buildings, as well as specialty equipment, marine, and machine structures.

    Essential Job Functions
    • Analyze components and systems of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood as they related to buildings and other structures.
    • Direct technicians in the preparations of plans and other construction documents.
    • Design and analyze systems effectively using 3D software packages.
    • Perform site observations and inspection of construction projects.
    • Prepare reports and oral presentations for both internal and client use.
    • Performs other related functions as assigned or apparent.
    • Work with multi-disciplinary teams.
    Required Knowledge and Abilities
    • Knowledge of basic structural engineering principles and practices applied to project design and construction.
    • Ability to plan and direct the work of engineering technicians and other staff.
    • Ability to make engineering calculations, estimates and designs.
    • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
    • Ability to make on-site inspections and observations of construction projects and report on same.
    • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate and interact with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and clients.
    Qualifications:
    • Education: Registered as an EIT.  Bachelors degree or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or equivalent related degree.
    • Experience: Previous experience in an engineering environment with undergraduate experience in construction or engineering-related activity preferred.
